Coming Together as One
Community Safety Planning is done!
The three Gitksan communities working in partnership with GGC and Public Safety Canada have completed the community safety planning work. A number of great resources were created in this community driven process, digital stories about safety issues in the community, a Gitksan Wellnes Model/photovoice Mural and 3 community safety plans!
Community Engagement Sessions – Talking to Community Members, the People
An online survey monkey link has been created and is now done. This survey, focus groups with men, women, youth and families have taken place. A Gitxsan Elders and speakers session was held March 8th at the Gitanmaax Hall. Many thanks to Linda Matthews of the Better at Home program & Benjamin Laurie who were immensely helpful in pulling this together. About 50 elders and family members participated. A fun digital story was created to capture the innovative way to use the Gitksan Trickster, Wii gyat to help share the concepts of Gitksan Wellness.
We summarized the steps we have taken to engage or talk to people about wellness in to a chart for each community and here is a sample one to share.
